What’s the differences between the American tractor and the European tractor?

Actually, the power of the tractor becomes larger in the whole world. The specific reason is that the need of economic profits and the higher requirements of agricultural tools. The final target is to improve the agricultural production efficiency and reduce production cost. As for the power, American tractor is larger than European tractor.

 

America has a large farm area. It has a large area of contiguous land which is the important reason of the popularity of the four-wheel drive tractor with a large structure size and turning radius in America. On the contrary, this kind tractor or so high power tractor is few in Europe which has low oil pressure. The world's most powerful mass-produced tractor, which was 500 horsepower (rated power) 10 years ago. Today, the most power tractor  is 620 horsepower today. It demands high tractor oil pressure. They all from North America.

 

They also choose various engine like john deer tractor engine, steam tractor engine, ford 172 diesel tractor engine, 1710 ford tractor engine, ford 1910 tractor engine.

 

 

Gear box

American tractor or European all has high electrical oil pressure gauge and the mechanical oil pressure gauge. But the gear box is various. The advancement of the tractor is depending on the technical level of the gearbox to a great extent. The technical level of the gearbox can be divided into four levels：mechanical gearbox (including meshing sleeve type and synchronizer type), semi power shift, full power shift and CVT.

 

If the technical level of gearbox is higher, the tractor engine power will be brought into full play. And the adaptability of matching with higher-end agricultural tools will be better . So the final result the better economic benefits. This is also the fundamental reason of the continuous technological progress of the gearbox. At present, almost all tractors above 300 horsepower, whether American or European, they all use full power shift gearbox or even CVT. Although CVT has not been used for now, full power shift transmission has been used in the farm.

 

A few years ago, some North American manufacturers still provided mechanical gearbox as an optional configuration which has large power and weight. This is the premise of ensuring the traction of this tractor.

 

In general, the technical level of the gearbox of European tractors is higher than American tractors. European tractors have larger tractor engine. Fint and Steyr from Europe have advanced technical level of the gearbox. They both use CVT.

 

 

Structure mass (weight) and wheelbase

The biggest difference between American tractor and European tractor is the difference of structure weight and wheelbase. The situation is decided by the local farming methods and local farming tools.

 

Traditionally, American tractor is the heavy type, and the wheelbase is large. Heavy tractors and the tractors with large wheelbase are popular in North America. However, the tractors with small wheelbase and lighter tractors are popular in Europe.

 

We can’t easily say that which tractor between the American tractor or the European tractor is better. The key point is to see which area to work in and which category the main supporting agricultural tools belong to, whether they are traction type or suspension type. These are the important points.

 

 

Wheels and tires

Most American tractors are equipped with two wheels and have narrow tires. On the contrary, European tractors are generally driven by one wheel and have wide tires.
