What Is The Difference between MF440 And 440xtra

This article will introduce two versatile and reliable tractors to you——MF440 and MF440Xtra. They are part of the Massey Ferguson 440 series of tractors, which are designed for a range of agricultural tasks.

The main differences between the two models are as following.

The Massey Ferguson 440 is equipped with Perkins P4000 4.0 L four-cylinder diesel engine that offers good power output while maintaining fuel efficiency. The horsepoer is about 82 hp/61.1 kW and the Rated RPM is 2200. The fuel tank is 19.8gal/74.9L. And the Bore/Stroke is 100 x 127 mm.

Compared with MF440, the MF440Xtra usually has a more powerful engine. Its engine is optional. One is Perkins A4-4.1 4.1L 4-cyl diesel and the Bore/Stroke is 100 x 127 mm. The other is Perkins 1104.4C 4.4L 4-cyl diesel and the Bore/Stroke is105 x 127 mm. The fuel is about 26.4gal/99.9L.

For 440's tractor hitch, the rear type is II, draft, position, and response control. For 440Xtra’s tractor hitch, its rear lift is 2500 kg.

However, both two models also have some similarites. Their pump flow is 11.1GPM/42.0LPM and steering press is 2466psi/170.0bar. But the hydraulic system on the MF440Xtra might have higher capacity, allowing it to handle larger implements more effectively and providing more versatility for various agricultural applications.

And their transmissions are optional, they have 8-speed sliding spur gear or 12-speed synchromesh, allowing for better handling of different farming tasks, whether tilling, plowing, or hauling.

Also, for their Mechanical, the chassis is 4X2 2WD and 4x4 MFWD 4WD. The brakes is Wet disc brakes. And the cab is Two-post ROPS optional with available canopy. For the dimensions and tires, two tractors’ 2WD and 4WD are different.  For 2WD, their front tire is 7.50-16 while rear tire is 18.4-30. For 4WD, their front tire is 12.4-24 while rear tire is 12.4-30.
