Troubleshooting Methods for Electrical System of Tractor

The fault of the tractor electrical system, no matter it happens on the line or in the tractor electrical equipment, is generally caused by short circuit or open circuit. The general phenomenon and diagnostic methods are as follows.

Short circuit fault

1. The phenomenon and cause of electrical system short circuit

When a partial short circuit occurs, the line load fails due to short circuit. The resistance of this load line is small but it produces a great short circuit current, leading to overload of the power supply, so wire insulation will burn out and cause a fire. When short circuit occurs in electrical oil pressure gauge of tractor, it should solve it immediately.

2. The diagnosis method of short circuit fault in electric system of tractor

(1) Direct observation

When tractor electrical equipment fail to work, there will be smoke, sparks, coke odor, hot and other abnormal phenomena sometimes, which can be sensed through eyes, nose, ears and other senses, so as to directly judge the fault parts and causes of electrical equipment such as engine oil pressure sensor.

(2) Observe the ammeter on the tractor

Where an electrical device passes a tractor electrical ammeter, the ammeter indicates a current value that can be used as a judgment basis. If the electric equipment is switched on, the ammeter quickly swings out of the full scale from "0", it indicates that there is a short circuit somewhere in the line.

(3) Open circuit testing

Disconnect the part of the circuit suspected of having a short circuit fault to determine whether the part is disconnected. For example, if there is a short circuit in the oil pressure gauge tester line, it will cause the fuse of fuse protector in the circuit to be fused. At this time, a test lamp can be used to check the short circuit. Connect lead wires at both ends of the test lamp to the terminal posts at both ends of the broken fuse, then turn on the test lamp. Then disconnect the circuit that is suspected to have fault. If the test light is off, it indicates that the short circuit is in this section. Otherwise, do the circuit break test segment by segment to the rest of the circuit.

(4) Multimeter testing

Measure the resistance of the windings in the electrical components to determine whether there is short circuit in the windings. Multimeter detection is a more accurate and rapid method to detect circuits or components.

Open circuit fault

1. The phenomena and causes of open circuit faults in tractor electrical system

If one end of the wire is in front and the other end of the wire is behind, there is still electricity before the break point of the wire, and the loop can be formed with the frame iron. However, if there is no electricity after this point, the power supply is interrupted at a certain point in the circuit. the current blockage results in the failure of light and the motor suspension, etc. The fault can be caused by broken wires, loose wire connection section and poor contact, etc.

2. The diagnosis of open circuit fault

(1) Observe the ammeter on the tractor

When the working voltage is constant and the electrical equipment is switched on, the ammeter indicates "0" or the indicated discharge current value is less than the normal value, it means that a circuit of the electrical equipment is broken or the conductor is in bad contact. (2) Shortly joint testing

Use a screwdriver to shortly joint a circuit and check the reaction of an ammeter or electrical tractor appliance to determine the location of the open circuit fault. Usually, one end of a wire is connected to the fire line of the electrical equipment, and the other end is contacted with each point. According to the reaction of the electrical equipment, we can determine the fault position.This method can effectively solve the problem of open circuit of the tractor electrical system, such as tractor engine open circuit.

(3) Multimeter testing

Use a multimeter instead of a test fire conductor to measure the voltage at each point. Whether the voltage is positive or negative, the circuit between the test point and the power supply is smooth. But if the voltage is 0, the circuit between the test point and the end is open. In addition, compare the test parameters of the circuit with the parameters in normal technical state can also determine the fault location.
