The Reason of the Breakdown of Power Output Spindle Nose of the Tractor

The power output spindle nose of the tractor often breaks down in the agricultural work, which not only delays the process of field operation, but also cause other problems such as the damage of the flexible universal joint and the tractor mounted implement. Sometimes it will even injure the operators. You may wonder what are the causes of the breakdown of power output spindle nose. The reasons are mainly as follow:

 

1. Farmers’ Misoperation

When tilling lands with tractors, many farmers skipped the step of lifting up the rotary cultivator in order to improve the efficiency of rotary tillage. However, when the rotary cultivator is not lifted, it will exert radial force on power output spindle nose. Therefore, when farmers steer too fast, or under too much pressure, the spindle nose will break down.

 

Some farmer know they should lift the rotary cultivator, but when they do, they often lift it to the highest level, which may lead to large angle between universal joint and power output axis. That is also unreasonable because when spindle nose is lifted too high, power output axis will also receive a radial force, which may also trigger the breakdown of power output spindle nose.

 

The right way of doing this should be cutting off the power of tractor before lifting the rotary cultivator when changing direction. And after the turn is made, turn on the power again. In doing this, one should do an oil pressure check, ie, to check the oil pressure line for tractor, in case the oil pressure is too low to start the machine. If low oil pressure symptoms are noticed, one should try to find low oil pressure causes. Sometimes the oil pressure is low because the oil pressure engine is off.

One of the best ways to prevent such instance from happening is to choose the correct oil pressure tractor and do oil pressure test often. If there are oil pressure warning symbols or low oil pressure symptoms, problems must be found immediately.

 

2. The mismatching of the rotary tiller

Firstly, when connecting the rotary tiller, one must adjust the length of the universal joint, which should neither be too long nor too short. It must be cut short when it is too long.

 

Secondly, the cultivator should be at least 1 cm away from the ground when it is in the lowest location, otherwise the PTO will be damaged.

 

Thirdly, the cultivator should be at least 15 cm away from the ground when it is in the highest location, otherwise the universal joint might fall off or break down. Nevertheless, the distance should not be too far either.

 

Besides, the universal level of the rotary stiller, when being installed, should be kept at the same level.

 

 

3. Dysfunction of the power output axis

The poor quality of the power output axis such as axis defects, heat treatment problems and holes in the axis will also give rise to the breakdown of the spindle nose.

 

Moreover, choosing the wrong type of axis will also cause this problem. There are two kinds of common power output axis: axis with the diameter of 35 mm and 48 mm. Generally, we will use the 35-mm-diameter axis if the horsepower is 120 and use the 48-mm-diameter axis if the horsepower is over 120. Nevertheless, many farmers still use the 35-mm-diameter axis in their 180-horsepower tractors, which is also explain the breakdown of the spindle nose.
