KUBOTA - Unleashing the Potential of Agriculture

Kubota Corporation is a Japanese multinational corporation based in Osaka. It was established in 1890. The corporation produces many products including tractors and other agricultural machinery, construction equipment, engines, valves , pumps, and equipment for water purification, sewage treatment and air conditioning.

In 1890,Kubota Corporation established as a foundry.

In 1897,changed the corporate name from Oide Chuzo-jo (Oide Foundry) to Kubota Tekko-jo (Kubota Iron Works).Initiated production of waterworks equipment such as fire hydrants and gate valves.

In 1922,Kubota started to manufacture oil engines for agriculture and industry after being approached about the manufacturing of Japanese engines by Sugiyama Shoten,a pump seller which was also an agent for imported engines.

This manufacturing and research continued in a corner of the warehouse of the main plant and in April 1923,the agriculture and industry engine Tpye A,with 3 horsepower,went on sale through the Sugiyama Shoten.

The product lne was expanded from there,and in 1927 the company developed an engine for fishing boats using magneto and plugs from the German company Bosch.The Kubota engine were highly evaluated at expositions and comparative judging,and the company’s position in the industry rose steadily.

The company had increased its production of engines after purchasing Tobata Engines in 1933,and as demand was further increasing,a plant solely for the production of engines for agriculture and industry in 1936 in Osaka prefecture and the plant was constructed.It started production in 1937.

With the construction of the new plant,Kubota aimed to be the biggest production base in the East.Over half of the new machinery was imported from Europe and America.It introduced a conveyer belt system,which came from experience in automobile manufacturing,and a centralized process management system.

In 1950,Started production of first horizontal engine.

In 1952,The company entered the pump business and completed its frist pump.However, the existing manufacturers had a frim grip on the pump market, for both public and private demand,and Kubota’s pump business did not really get on track until the 1960s,when the concentration of the population in the cities lead to an increased demand for large pumps.  

In 1953,Changed corporate name from K.K. Kubota Tekko-jo to Kubota Tekko K.K. Established Kubota Kenki K.K. and entered the construction equipment industry.

In 1960,Developed and commercialized tractors for field crops.Received and completed an order for an overseas water supply project for the first time in Japan.

In 1962,Full-scale entry into the environmental improvement business.Started production of paddy field tractors.

In 1969,Started production of combines.Completed an integrated system for agricultural mechanization.

In 1972,Established Kubota Tractor Corporation in the US to fully enter the US tractor market.

In 1990,Celebrated our 100th year in business. Altered the corporate name to Kubota Corporation. Introduced the new corporate symbol and visual identity system.

In 2019,Kubota launched the B01 Series with the B2301 and B2601.

In early 2020, Kubota unveiled its newest compact tractor, the B2401, adding two models to its popular B01 Series of compact tractors – the B2401DT and the B2401DT Narrow. Both models come standard with a gear drive transmission and boast a 21.9 gross horsepower Kubota diesel engine.

Today, Kubota offers a full selection of products from small to large-sized tractors for diverse applications and scales.

Moreover, Kubota's tractor-mounted implements are designed for plowing, harrowing and many other tasks. Kubota's high levels of performance and reliability have helped the company establish a strong reputation in the world.
