How to maintain the tractor brake system?

In order to ensure the safe driving of the tractor and increase the average driving speed of the tractor to improve the transportation productivity, special braking mechanisms are provided on various tractors. Such a series of specialized devices is called a braking system. How should we maintain the tractor brake system?

Guarantee good vehicle braking performance

A tractor with good braking performance requires that when driving at any speed, braking measures can be used to quickly reduce the speed or stop the vehicle in a short time and distance. Good braking efficiency plays an important role in improving the average speed of the tractor and ensuring driving safety. The main measures to improve braking efficiency are as follows.

Shorten the braking distance

During the use of the brake, the brake clearance will gradually increase due to the wear of the brake shoe friction pads and the brake drum. Increasing the response time of the braking system will cause slow braking and insufficient braking force, extend the braking distance and reduce the braking efficiency.

Under normal circumstances, when a large friction force is generated, the contact area of the brake shoes and the brake drum should reach more than 80%. In use, after the gap is increased due to brake wear, inspection and adjustment must be performed.

Prevent the brake from drifting

The tractor automatically deviates from the original driving direction. This phenomenon is called braking deviation. Once the brakes go off, it is easy to cause serious accidents such as collisions, falling roads, and even rollovers. In order to improve the stability of the brake and ensure the safety of driving, the tractor is not allowed to deviate significantly during emergency braking.

The cause of the brake misalignment is mainly due to the different braking forces of the front and left wheels. When braking, a rotating torque about the center of gravity is formed, which makes the tractor tend to rotate, so it is prone to brake misalignment. In order to avoid deviation, during use, care should be taken to keep the left and right wheel brake clearances, and the brake shoe return spring tension to be consistent.

How to prevent tractor from skidding

During the driving of the tractor, the tractor often deviates from the original driving direction due to braking and steering, causing side slippage and even overturning. Especially during emergency braking or sudden steering, the tractor is more serious to skid and roll over.

During use, try to avoid side slipping. Keep the brake technology in good condition, so that the front and rear wheels have reliable braking performance. On roads with complicated road shapes and poor sight lines, vehicle speed should be controlled to reduce emergency braking and avoid accidents such as side slipping and rollover. When the tractor's rear wheel slips, the steering wheel should be properly turned in time to the side of the rear wheel's side to eliminate the influence of centrifugal force, and the side slip can stop.

Only the external force acting on the tractor and in the direction opposite to the direction of the tractor can be used to brake the tractor. The magnitude of these external forces is random and uncontrollable. Therefore, a series of special devices and parts must be installed on the tractor to achieve the above functions.
