Causes and Solutions of Common Failures of Cylinders

The cylinder refers to a cylindrical metal mechanical part that guides the piston to reciprocate linearly in the cylinder. The air in the engine cylinder is expanded to convert thermal energy into mechanical energy, and the gas is compressed by the piston in the compressor cylinder to increase the pressure. The air cylinder is also a relatively common part in agriculture machines. For example, the tractor parts include the air cylinder.

 


1. External Leakage


External leakage is mainly divided into leakage at the end of the piston rod, leakage between the cylinder and the cylinder head, and leakage at the buffer adjustment. The main reasons are eccentric installation of the piston rod, insufficient lubricant supply, wear of the piston sealing ring, impurities on the piston rod bearing mating surface and scratches on the piston rod.

 

There are five methods for eliminating external leakage. Reinstall and adjust the piston rod so that it is not subject to eccentric and lateral loads. Check if the lubricator is malfunctioning. Replace the sealing ring. Clean to remove impurities, install and replace the dust cover. Replace the piston rod.

2. Internal Leakage


Internal leakage is mainly that there is gas at both ends of the piston. The main causes of internal leaks are damaged piston seals, poor lubrication, stuck pistons, defective piston mating surfaces and impurities squeezed into the sealing surface.

 

There are four methods to eliminate internal leakage replace the seal. Check if the lubricator is malfunctioning. Reinstall and adjust the piston rod so that it is not subject to eccentric and lateral loads. To remove impurities, use purified compressed air.

 

 

3. Insufficient Output Force and Unstable Movement


The main reasons for insufficient output force and unstable operation are poor lubrication, stuck piston or piston rod, insufficient air supply flow rate and condensed water impurities.

 

There are four ways to eliminate the unstable movement caused by insufficient output force. Check if the lubricator is malfunctioning. Re-install and adjust to eliminate eccentric lateral load. Increase the diameter of the connection or pipe joint. Pay attention to use purified dry compressed air to prevent water condensation.

 

 

4. Poor Buffering Effect


The poor cushioning effect is mainly due to three reasons, the cushioning seal is worn, the adjusting screw is damaged, and the cylinder speed is too fast.

 

The methods to eliminate the bad cushioning effect include replacing the sealing ring, replacing the adjusting screw and paying attention to whether the cushioning structure is suitable.

5. Injury

It is mainly divided into two types, damaged piston rod and damaged cylinder head. Piston rod damage is mainly due to an eccentric lateral load, the piston rod is subjected to an impact load, or the speed of the cylinder is too fast. Methods to eliminate the piston rod damage include eliminating the eccentric lateral load, adding no impact to the piston rod, and providing a buffer device. The damage of the engine cylinder head is mainly because the buffer mechanism does not work, and a buffer mechanism can be provided in the external circuit or circuit to eliminate the damage of the cylinder head.
